Lynda Clarke – Driving Payment Innovation

LyndaC

Lynda Clarke, General Manager UK at Nayax, has built a successful career by combining strong leadership, industry knowledge, and a passion for innovation. With years of experience in payments and financial services, she has played an important role in helping businesses grow while supporting the people behind that success. Today, she leads Nayax’s UK operations, driving the growth of a global commerce and payments platform designed for unattended retail, including vending, EV charging, kiosks, parking, laundromats, and other self-service environments. We at CIO Global, are proud to introduce Lynda Clarke as one of the 10 Distinguished Leaders Making an Impact in Europe, 2026.

Lynda’s professional journey began at Barclaycard, where she developed a strong understanding of the payments industry. She later held senior leadership roles at Elavon and Network International, gaining valuable experience across different areas of financial services. These opportunities helped her understand both the technical and business sides of the industry while teaching her the importance of strong leadership, teamwork, and company culture. Before joining Nayax, she served as Chief Operating Officer at Tribe Payments, helping the company through a period of rapid expansion and business growth.

“Small improvements made every day lead to the biggest achievements over time.”

Her interest in payments and financial technology came from a simple but powerful idea. She believes that finance and payments are at the center of how the modern world works. Every business and customer depends on secure, reliable, and efficient payment systems. The opportunity to solve practical business challenges while improving customer experiences inspired her to build a career in fintech, a sector that continues to evolve with technology and changing consumer expectations.

For Lynda, leadership is much more than managing people or achieving business targets. She believes a distinguished leader creates a clear vision that others genuinely want to follow. Once that vision is established, leaders should trust their teams, support their development, and give them the freedom to succeed. She believes great leadership comes from recognizing potential before it becomes obvious and helping people grow into their capabilities. This approach creates motivated teams that take ownership of their work and contribute with confidence.

Throughout her career, Lynda has consistently delivered impressive business results. At Tribe Payments, she helped lead the company through a significant growth phase, with transaction volumes increasing by more than 370 percent and revenue growing by 75 percent year over year. During her time at Elavon, she contributed to doubling the revenue of the product portfolio over three years, especially through value-added services. At Network International, she supported the company’s IPO journey while expanding its acquiring business and contributing to the launch of the Middle East’s first acquirer-owned Android POS application. These achievements reflect her ability to combine strategic thinking with operational excellence.

Like many women working in technology and financial services, Lynda has faced challenges while building her career in industries where women have often been underrepresented. Instead of allowing those experiences to hold her back, she used them to strengthen her resilience, confidence, and leadership skills. She believes preparation, consistency, and clear communication are essential qualities that help professionals earn trust and respect, regardless of the environment.

“Innovation creates real value when it makes everyday experiences simpler, smarter, and more connected.”

At Nayax, Lynda is helping shape the future of unattended commerce. The company provides merchants with an integrated platform that combines cashless payments, business management tools, and customer loyalty solutions. This allows operators to manage their businesses more efficiently while delivering convenient experiences to customers. As self-service continues to become part of everyday life, Nayax is expanding into new sectors such as parking, EV charging, hospitality, laundromats, and automated services, helping businesses embrace the next generation of commerce.

Innovation plays a central role in Lynda’s work. She believes technology is most valuable when it connects payments, operational data, and customer insights into one complete ecosystem. This approach gives operators greater visibility into their businesses, improves system reliability, and creates better customer experiences. Rather than focusing only on payment acceptance, Nayax helps businesses use technology to improve engagement, efficiency, and long-term growth.

Lynda’s leadership style is built on continuous improvement. She believes that becoming just one percent better every day creates lasting success over time. Instead of relying on dramatic changes, she focuses on consistent progress, coaching, and creating opportunities for people to develop their skills. She encourages open conversations and welcomes different opinions, believing that diverse perspectives lead to stronger decisions and healthier organizations. Her teams are encouraged not only to contribute ideas but also to challenge existing thinking in a respectful and constructive way.

Building strong teams remains one of her greatest priorities. She works to create an environment where people feel trusted, empowered, and accountable. She believes employees perform at their best when they know their opinions matter and when they are encouraged to think independently. By promoting collaboration and honest discussion, she helps create teams that are capable of solving complex problems and delivering meaningful results.

Looking ahead, Lynda believes unattended commerce will continue expanding rapidly as consumers increasingly expect self-service options in everyday life. Whether using automated coffee kiosks, click-and-collect lockers, EV charging stations, or unattended retail stores, customers now expect fast, reliable, and seamless experiences. She believes financial technology companies must continue providing businesses with dependable payment systems, operational insights, and customer engagement tools that support this growing demand.

Her vision for Nayax is to strengthen its presence across the UK while helping businesses embrace the future of self-service commerce. The launch of VPOS Media 4, a PIN-capable point-of-sale terminal, represents an important step in supporting the UK’s expanding unattended retail market. By combining advanced payment capabilities with customer engagement features, Nayax is helping operators move beyond transactions and build stronger customer relationships.

“Great leadership is built through trust, consistency, and the courage to empower others.”

Lynda’s advice to future leaders is both practical and inspiring. She encourages young professionals to stay curious, embrace change, and continue learning throughout their careers. She believes emotional intelligence, adaptability, and the ability to bring people together will define the next generation of leadership. She also encourages young women to believe in their abilities, ask questions confidently, and never hesitate to pursue opportunities. Success, she believes, is built through consistent effort, continuous learning, and the courage to move forward even when the path is uncertain.
